The robotics team meets throughout the academic year. Fall In the Fall, the students work with the mentors to develop the skills needed to design and build a robot to compete in the annual FIRST FRC Robotic Competition. Winter At the beginning of January, FIRST reveals the FRC game challenge. The team then has six weeks to design, build and test their robot. Once the six weeks are over, the robot goes into a gigantic plastic bag sealed by a security zip tie until the judges can observe its reopening at an official FRC competition. Spring The team competes in two official FRC events and off-season competitions. The team also travels to the local elementary schools for their STEM nights as well as the Watertown Boys & Girls Clubs to give younger students the opportunity to learn more about robotics and take a turn driving a robot. |
